Collectively imagining new landscapes for East and Southeast Asian artists in the UK and beyond.

ABOUT

Since 2021 over 100 ESEA contemporary visual artists, curators, cultural producers and wider creatives have been meeting online to discuss and explore the question,

What kinds of spaces and support do we need to create a new arts landscape for ESEA artists?

These discussions have led to a series of motions that will be tabled at a Town Hall in Sheffield on Sat 11th Nov 2023. ESEA creatives are invited to attend either online or in-person to cast their votes and contribute to building a mandate for change.

The results of the Town Hall will be published in a report and disseminated to the arts sector in the UK, Ireland and beyond.

The motions that will be tabled have arisen from Knowledge Exchanges and online Roundtable discussions with ESEA artists and arts workers, some of which have had a regional focus coming from:

Birmingham & the Midlands

Ireland & Northern Ireland

London

Manchester & the Northwest

Rotterdam & Hong Kong

Scotland

Wales

Each regional roundtable explored the overarching question in relation to one of the following themes:

CARE – ARCHIVING – CURATING – SPACE

ORGANISING – VISION – IDENTITY
